Spring Cupcake Liner Wreath

After hearing all of the amazing and encouraging comments on my red cupcake liner wreath that I posted about a month ago (click HERE to view), I decided to make a Spring cupcake liner wreath. Actually I designed it to where I can change out the little embellishments throughout the year to decorate for the seasons/holidays. Which explains why I chose to use white cupcake liners to keep it neutral.

Here are the supplies I used:

• foam wreath (this one was 12 inches in diameter)
• thick ribbon (I used green since it's what I had on hand)
• white cupcake liners (I used about 150)
• hot glue and gun

Overall, it only took me a couple of hours (with many added interruptions), but it was well worth the effort!

I also added this little embellishment that I made out of tissue paper. It's just a standard pom-pom flower (click HERE to view the tutorial) with a big white button and and orange ribbon tied in a bow. I attached the entire thing with ribbon to make it easy to remove and change out according to the theme.

[Motivational Monday: Decorating with Flowers]

Don't you just love springtime? When all of the plants come back to life and the beautiful flowers start to bloom? Even though my allergies will disagree, I enjoy filling my home with colorful flowers in unique ways. Here are just a few fun ways to add a little "life" in your home:

[Placing a single flower in a colored bottle is simplistic yet adds a touch of class to any home.]

[I love this look of cut roses bunched together in this square vase. Makes a pretty centerpiece.]

[Not only do I love the flower arrangement in this trophy-like vase, but I simply adore the flowers displayed in bowls on stacks of books & bookshelf in the background.]

[Recognize this? I posted a while back (click HERE to view) about having flowers in pitchers. I simply put these feux flowers in a pitcher that I found at Goodwill. Even though the flowers aren't real, it still makes me smile just to look at them.]

So go pick up some flowers at your local florist or even the grocery store and fill your home with life and color! :0)

Lucky Star - St. Patty's Day Treat

Do you make any special treats to celebrate St. Patrick's Day? Well, it has sort of become a tradition at my house (you can view last year's St. Patty's Day cookies HERE). This year I decided to make green Rice Krispie treats. I originally got this idea from Mique over at Thirty Handmade Days and her super fun Rainbow Treats. This was so much fun to make with my 2 year old daughter, even though she'd rather eat it than make it. :0)

Ingredients:

• 6 cups Rice Krispie cereal
• 1 package of marshmallows
• 2 tablespoons butter
• green food coloring
• cooking spray

First, melt butter in sauce pan. Then add marshmallows and stir until melted. Remove from heat and add food coloring. Pour cereal into a large bowl and stir in melted marshmallows. Spray 9 x 13 pan with cooking spray and pour in mixture. Using your hands, firmly pat down mixture into pan until even distributed. Let cool and enjoy!

Since I don't have a shamrock cookie cutter, I decided to use one of my Christmas cookie cutters (since that's all I have!). After I found the star, I immediately thought "lucky star". Okay, I know it's a bit of a stretch for St. Patty's Day, but I had to get a little creative.
